WHO ARE THE MAKERS?
In our studio-based galleries you will find handmade and beautifully crafted
New Zealand jewellery and precious objects.
The Makers began in 2015 as a pop-up gallery in Wellington, in Workspace Studios, where four friends worked side by side at their jewellery benches. Annie Collins, Gemma Miller, Vaune Mason and Natalie Salisbury opened a small section of the studio up as a boutique jewellery gallery for Christmas, where the focus was on quality hand made jewellery, and those who appreciate owning and wearing jewellery that is really special. Hence our tag-line: "for wearers of makers."
Now four years later, The Makers represents different artists from around New Zealand across two galleries - the original in Te Aro, Wellington and the new space in Christchurch's Ferry Road.
Our ethos is to represent artisan - makers, to promote hand-made, local talent and to bring those to you, our wonderful customers, hungry for beautiful, meaningful taonga (treasures).
Our website carries only a fraction of what we have in our galleries and we also love to create bespoke pieces for our clients. Let us know if you would like something special created or adapted just for you.
There's plenty going on at The Makers, with showcases of new work from artists throughout the year.
